For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. (2 Timothy 4:2-4) Don’t forget, preaching is not limited to getting up behind a pulpit on a Sunday. It is being a Herald - speaking out what someone else has written. Everybody wants to be taught - so it must be the right thing. You have heard the phrase - Practice makes perfect? That is not correct - only practicing the right thing makes perfect. That's why we need to convince people about The Truth. Ready to rebuke (in love) what they say when it contradicts scripture. Exhorting (encouraging) them to believe. With lots of long-suffering and teaching. It took over 5 years to get one friend to the prayer of salvation. Lots of patience too.
